Counter-Terrorism Police Probe Series of Fires Linked to UK Prime Minister's Properties

London, May 13, 2025 — A 21-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a series of suspected arson attacks targeting properties linked to UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The incidents, which occurred over several days, have raised concerns about the safety of public figures and the potential for politically motivated violence.

The most recent fire took place early Monday morning at a residence in Kentish Town, north London, previously occupied by Starmer and currently rented out to his sister-in-law. The blaze caused significant damage to the property's entrance but fortunately resulted in no injuries. The Metropolitan Police's Counter Terrorism Command is leading the investigation due to the high-profile nature of the case.

Authorities are also examining two other related incidents: a vehicle fire on the same street last Thursday and a fire at a separate property in Islington on Sunday. All three incidents are being treated as suspicious, and police are exploring possible links between them.

Prime Minister Starmer expressed his gratitude to emergency services for their swift response but declined to comment further due to the ongoing investigation. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has been briefed on the matter and has pledged full support for the police inquiry.

Opposition leader Kemi Badenoch condemned the attacks as "shocking" and emphasized that such threats against public servants are unacceptable. She described the incidents as "an attack on our democracy" and called for heightened security measures to protect elected officials.

The arrest and subsequent investigation underscore the ongoing challenges faced by public figures in maintaining personal security amid a climate of increasing political polarization. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are urging the public to report any information that may assist in the investigation.

As of now, the arrested individual remains in custody, and further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
