The bodybuilding world witnessed a historic conclusion to the Joe Weider’s Olympia Fitness & Performance Weekend in Las Vegas, as Derek Lunsford won the 2025 Mr. Olympia title. In a showdown described as one of the closest in the sport’s history, Lunsford successfully reclaimed the coveted Sandow trophy and earned the top prize of $600,000.
Lunsford’s victory was the culmination of a dominant season, marking him as only the second bodybuilder ever to regain the Mr. Olympia title after having lost it. He presented a package of unmatched conditioning, impressive muscle density, and a refined overall shape that proved undeniable to the judges.
The Men's Open Top Contenders
The battle for the Men's Open title was a tense affair, primarily contested among three former champions:
1st Place: Derek Lunsford (USA) Lunsford brought his best-ever physique, displaying incredible fullness and sharpness, particularly in the back and chest, securing his second Sandow.
2nd Place: Hadi Choopan (Iran) The fan-favorite, known as "The Persian Wolf," was once again the runner-up. Despite bringing his trademark conditioning, Choopan finished just shy of the top spot but was recognized by the crowd, winning the People's Champion Award.
3rd Place: Andrew Jacked (UAE) The rising star made a huge leap, showcasing significant improvements in overall hardness and stage presence to claim the third-place podium spot.
4th Place: Samson Dauda (UK) The reigning champion, who was looking to defend his title, struggled slightly with his peak conditioning on the night and ultimately finished fourth.
Champions Crowned in Other Divisions
The 61st edition of the Olympia weekend also saw incredible performances and the crowning of new and returning champions across the other divisions:
Classic Physique: A new champion was crowned as Ramon Rocha Queiroz of Brazil won his first title, taking the division's top spot.
Men's 212: Keone Pearson successfully defended his title, further cementing his place as the division’s dominant force.
Men's Physique: Ryan Terry secured his third consecutive victory, maintaining his position as one of the most consistent champions in the division’s history.
Ms. Olympia: Andrea Shaw continued her reign of dominance, claiming the title once again.
